The Hoxie Scots struggled at the plate against Ensigns hurler Brandon Halfhill, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete-game 8-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Scots skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Halfhill finished the game with 4 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," Hillsboro manager said. "Brandon made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
