Toros Deal Thunderbirds 4-3 Loss
|
The Tucson Toros weathered a fine game by Phoenix catcher Alfredo Garcia to upend the Thunderbirds, 4-3, at Legednary Park. Garcia went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Taxi Sabala, the winning pitcher, is now 5-0. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 1. The Thunderbirds fall to 11-18 and continue their lackluster start to the 2077 season.
Tucson used a well-timed hit by Nick Brauer to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Toros ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Brauer said.
