Kodiaks Victorious at San Antonio, 5-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Alaska Kodiaks and San Antonio Angels.
Alaska starter Irakly Alvarez pitched well against the San Antonio Angels at Tesoro Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Eddie Izurieta picked up the save for Alaska, his 2nd of the year.
Boyd Heath had a big 2-run double for the Kodiaks in the top of the fifth inning. With Alaska leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a forkball from Jeff Umlah, who finished 4th in the WC in strikeouts with 212 in 2072, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kodiaks ahead, 4-1.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said Alvarez.
San Antonio is now 2-1.
