The San Francisco Friars faced a tough opponent in Tucson pitcher Felix Talamantez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Staples Field by a final score of 5-0. Talamantez went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Cheh Ye earned the save, his 3rd, for the Friars. The win gives San Francisco a record of 17-11.
San Francisco took a 3-0 lead on Manny Alaniz's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Alaniz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Tucson pitcher Don Young visibly frustrated.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Alaniz. "But I like how we're playing right now."
