Vikings Prevail, 4-2, Over Kansas City
|
The Minneapolis Vikings picked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, knocking off the Kansas City Athletics, 4-2. Starting pitcher Vidal Cortez was a big reason why. Marcos Jurado came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Johnny Wickwire earned the save, his 5th.
T.J. Klamert drew 1 walk for Minneapolis. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Sok-man Chung. It was his 5th walk of the season.
Kansas City manager Joe Monagle said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The loss makes the Athletics 10-17.
