Glaciers Take Down Destroyers, 5-2
|
Denver turned a good performance from starting pitcher Taxi Sabala into a 5-2 triumph over the San Diego Destroyers in 11 innings at Seaward Stadium. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Javy Granillo in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Si-dao Ci took the loss. Jeremy Lanham wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.
Denver won the game in part because of Brian Wooten. The designated hitter ripped a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Glaciers ahead, 2-1. For the game, Wooten had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Taxi gets on the mound and he competes and that's what you want," said Denver manager Todd Bleess.
San Diego, with the loss, is 16-11.
