The San Diego Destroyers beat the San Francisco Friars, 6-5, at Seaward Stadium. San Diego right fielder Jose Gonzales collected 1 single and 2 doubles with 3 runs batted in. Nick Crosier earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Julio Olivo finished to wrap up his 7th save.
With the game tied, 5-5, in the bottom of the sixth, Gonzales had a key at-bat for San Diego. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Gonzales hit a run-scoring single off Manny Arango, making the score 6-5, Destroyers.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Gonzales told the San Diego Daily News.
The win takes San Diego to 15-12.
