Twins Deny Senators, 4-3
|
The Washington Senators and Cincinnati Twins provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Cincinnati Twins scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Washington Senators at Cincinnati Grounds. Cincinnati pitcher Josh Adamczyk held his own in the contest. Adamczyk picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Antonio Ramires earned the save for Cincinnati.
Cincinnati shortstop Luis Zatarain contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a splitter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 19th hit of the season and put the Twins ahead, 4-3.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Josh Cooan.
No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by Cincinnati might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 17-9.
