Though he had a stellar game, Brian Boots could not prevent his team, the Los Angeles Stars, from losing, 5-4, to the Minneapolis Vikings. Boots was 3-4 with 3 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was fan favorite Bertrand Ivory. He tossed 93 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. Johnny Wickwire finished the game for Minneapolis and earned his 6th save.

Minneapolis took the lead, 5-4, on David Espaillat's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Billy Paul in the bottom of the eighth.
