Win Lifts Browns to 14-9
|
The Brooklyn Browns picked up a win at Kroger Stadium, knocking off the Miami Cyclones, 5-1. Starting pitcher Kurt Bozek played a key role in the triumph. Bozek picked up the win for Brooklyn, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-1. Jimmy Hsia, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
In the top of the second, Brooklyn left fielder Jacob Testaverde had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Testaverde stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 3-0, Brooklyn. For the game, he was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Chris Stephan, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
The Cyclones, now 6-18, continue their poor start.
