Xadreque Esperana had a good game, but he could not keep the Portland Dragons from falling, 9-8, to the San Diego Destroyers at Portland Park. The Portland first baseman was 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit 2 times. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 in the loss. Nick Campbell snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Charlie Petipas suffered the loss. Antonio Rubio earned save number 1 this season.

Paul Rees hit a 2-run double off Charlie Petipas in the top of the third, which put the Destroyers in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Rees had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.

"We came out aggressive," said Destroyers manager Steve Alstadt. "We came out swinging the bats."

The Destroyers, now 2-1, have been playing some good baseball.
