Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Thunderbirds
|
Phoenix Thunderbirds starter John Hersey pitched his team past the Kansas City Athletics, 3-2, in 14 innings. John Intriago claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 3-1. The win puts Phoenix at 14-8.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jimmy Arman in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a run-scoring double off former first round draft pick Robert Kamp to win the game for Phoenix. The home crowd went nuts.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
