Draves Hits Two Dingers, Wolves Win, 13-0
|
The Vancouver Wolves marched over the San Francisco Friars, 13-0, at Fox-Chong Park. Ken Draves, who finished 3rd in the WC in doubles with 46 in 2079, led the charge. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6. Andres Carrasquillo, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held San Francisco to no runs on 2 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The Wolves with just their 7th win in 23 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
With Vancouver leading 10-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Draves came up to bat against San Francisco pitcher Sherman Lara. Draves hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Wolves on top, 13-0.
San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt called the blowout loss "nothing to write home about."
