Twins Mow Down Gaedels, 9-3
|
The Cincinnati Twins spoiled a good performance by St. Louis designated hitter Luis Nungaray, bumping off St. Louis, 9-3, at Veeck Park. Nungaray went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Phil Cromsie was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The Gaedels fall to 10-14 and continue their lackluster start to the 2083 season.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Wei-kang See-to to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning is contagious," said See-to. "We're looking forward to the next game."
