Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Chicago Phantoms and the Houston Aquas. Chicago won it, 2-1. Chicago starter Jarrod Beckman was in command. Alfredo Romero was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. Houston falls to 14-8.

Chicago used a timely hit from Tom Schwartzmiller to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Phantoms ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Beckman.
