Kodiaks Get Past Minneapolis for 6-5 Win
The Alaska Kodiaks did just enough to secure a victory over the Minneapolis Vikings, 6-5, at Tundradome. Nobody did more than right fielder Doug Christiano. Ruben Guzman snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. Travis Morris picked up the save for Alaska, his 1st of the year.

Joel Roberts drove in one run for Alaska. The 23-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Marcos Jurado. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan. "But we decided not to take it."

The Kodiaks, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
