Gaedels Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
|
The St. Louis Gaedels weathered a fine game by New York left fielder Earl Carpenter to upend the Titans, 4-3, at Veeck Park. Carpenter was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tso-i Mak picked up the win in relief for St. Louis, while Pavel Orta took the loss. Hogai Yasuda finished the game for St. Louis and earned his 2nd save.
St. Louis took a 4-3 lead on Zounes Kamuzu's 6th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Kamuzu hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Pavel Orta visibly frustrated.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick.
The loss drops New York to 12-9.
