Friars Take Down Phantoms, 10-7
The San Francisco Friars and Chicago Phantoms duked it out at Foster Field.

The San Francisco Friars stopped the Chicago Phantoms, 10-7, in 14 innings at Foster Field. The Friars got a big game from Minoru Kume, who went 3 for 6 with a triple and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Sherman Lara. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.

San Francisco used the timely hitting of Jesus Ospina to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Friars on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Job one," said Ospina, "is get the job done."

Chicago falls to 11-9.
