Wilson Stands Out in Arlington Shutout
|
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Phil Wilson of the Arlington Mallards proved the point at Ballpark of Arlington, holding the Hialeah Boomers to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Wilson made us look real bad today," Boomers manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Wilson had 8 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Mallards took the 1-0 win.
This year, Wilson has posted a 5-2 mark in 7 starts and has a 1.86 ERA.
