Baltimore Picks Up Another L
|
The St. Louis Gaedels did just enough to sneak past the Baltimore Kings, 5-4, at Veeck Park. St. Louis pitcher Aaron Kopta, in particular, had a standout performance. Kopta, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. The Kings, now 3-15, continue their inauspicious start.
Josh McNearney drove in one run for St. Louis. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Sanderson. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"We're not winning games right now," said Baltimore manager Brad Carpenter. "But I'm not going to denigrate the effort by the guys."
