Metropolitanos Win Thriller, 7-4
|
The Havana Metropolitanos topped the Toronto Juggernauts by a score of 7-4. Leading the way was second baseman Jonny Mavros. Mavros was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Metropolitanos. The winner in relief was Manny Arango. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Havana is off to a hot start at 12-5.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Havana trailing 4-3, Mavros jumped on a fastball from former first round draft pick Morgan California and hit a grand slam home run to right-center. With one swing, the Metropolitanos had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Mavros said.
