Titans Score Late to Upend Twins, 7-5
|
New York and Cincinnati duked it out and the Titans came out victorious.
New York second baseman Carlos Guadamuz played a vital role in his team's 7-5 conquest of Cincinnati. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for New York. New York pitcher Ray Menk got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ernie Martinez got the loss.
New York used the timely hitting of Jimmy Keener to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Titans on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Guadamuz, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Titans, now 14-3, have stormed out of the gates.
