Destroyers Snatch Late-Game, 7-6 Win
The San Diego Destroyers downed the Alaska Kodiaks, 7-6, in 10 innings at Tundradome. The Destroyers were led by Phil Heisey. Heisey went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Harold Ruspoli snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. With their winning streak at 5, the Destroyers have raced to a strong start this season.

Paul Castleman came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It was a test of wills," said Steve Alstadt, the San Diego skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
