Shaun Chugh, who finished 4th in the WC in ERA with 2.54 in 2077, imposed his will on the Angels from the get-go. Relying mainly on his changeup, the left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 San Francisco triumph. Roger Calzada earned the save for San Francisco, his 4th. The Angels are now 5-11.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Friars had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when catcher Lyalya Markosiants hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Travis Sasson and made the score 2-0, Friars. Markosiants was 1 for 3 with a walk.

Markosiants attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
