Friars Rip Chicago, 12-1
|
The San Francisco Friars pinned a convincing loss on the Chicago Phantoms, 12-1, at Staples Field. D.J. Trigg was a main factor in the win. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for San Francisco. Cruz Ponce, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 2-1. The loss puts Chicago at 6-8.
Riley Cooke was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for San Francisco. The 28-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Ingo Jentzsch. It was his 13th hit of the season.
Chicago manager Sam J called the pummeling "nothing to write home about."
