Corona Belts 5 Hits
After a 5-hit effort to lead Joliet's 10-2 victory over the Anchorage Homesteads, second baseman Lupe Corona told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the RSL Triple A-level is really something special."

The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Homesteads Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Homesteads.

"His swing is getting there," said Blues skipper , who spoke glowingly of Corona after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Lupe did that to perfection."

Lupe Corona struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th, grounded out in the 14th and hit an RBI double in the 15th.

This year, Corona is hitting .274 with 64 hits, 1 home run, 20 RBIs and has scored 20 runs.
