Stars Topple Toros, 10-5, as Kouri Shines
Behind the bravura of shortstop Chris Kouri, the Los Angeles Stars topped the Tucson Toros by the score of 10-5. Kouri was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Stars. The winner was Los Angeles reliever Jose Peguero, now 1-0. The loser was Adam Mimnaugh. The Stars, now 11-4, have been red hot.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Rio Matthews to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stars on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers.
