With designated hitter Hideji Yamanaka leading the charge, the Portland Dragons defeated the Alaska Kodiaks, 5-3, at Tundradome. Yamanaka, who is tied for 5th in the WC in extra base hits with 9, went 4-5 with 3 doubles. Picking up the save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Casanas. The Kodiaks, at 4-11, have stumbled out of the gate.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Joel Poll? The 25-year old catcher Poll stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Portland up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Poll told the Portland Observer.
