Kodiaks Score Late to Upend Dragons, 10-8
The inspired effort of Portland shortstop Ginjiro Muranaka was not enough to prevent a loss, 10-8, to the Alaska Kodiaks. Muranaka went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Roberto Banda notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The Kodiaks with just their 4th win in 14 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

The Dragons had been locked in a 8-8 tie with the Kodiaks going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Marc Sanders came to the plate. Sanders hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 fastball from Portland hurler Justin Kurth. It was Sanders's 1st double of the year.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Sanders, "this wasn't it."
