Stars Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Los Angeles Stars defeated the Tucson Toros, 7-5, at Aetna Stadium. Los Angeles first baseman Lyndon Lance had a superb performance. He was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3. Rin Sakai, the winner, goes to 2-0. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. The Stars, now 10-4, have been on fire in the early going.
Los Angeles used the clutch hitting of Willis Aguilar to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Stars the lead, 5-3. For the game, Aguilar had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Lance told the Los Angeles Gazette.
