In a low-scoring contest, San Diego pitcher Matt Rook was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. Rook, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Jeff Boffa finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
In the top of the ninth, Joel Roberts stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Kodiaks were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Jeff Boffa made a terrific pitch and Roberts struck out. Gone was the dream of a Alaska comeback.
With the win, San Diego improves its record to 6-6.
