Friars Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
Tim Valencia was instrumental in his team's 7-6, extra-inning triumph over the Vancouver Wolves. The first baseman went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the San Francisco Friars. Jeff Boffa claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. With the loss, Vancouver sinks to 3-8.
Chris Neri hit a run-scoring triple off Danny Laird in the top of the 11th, which put the Friars in front, 7-6. Neri had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 6.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said San Francisco manager Jeremy Cooan.
