Destroyers Handed 6-3 Loss by Denver
|
The Denver Glaciers overcame a good performance by San Diego center fielder Danny Mercadante to knock off San Diego, 6-3, at Mountain Dew Park. Mercadante was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Tetsukazu Kaneda earned the win for Denver. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. The Destroyers fall to 5-7 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Denver took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Jonathan Farfan hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Glaciers in front, 4-3.
"We didn't play well enough to win," said San Diego skipper Steve Alstadt.
