Portland (E) Falters Again, Loses, 7-4, to San Diego

The San Diego Destroyers extended their winning streak.
The San Diego Destroyers defeated the Portland (E) Lobster, 7-4, in Western Conference action at Seaward Stadium. San Diego pitcher Ben Flint had a standout performance. The second-place Destroyers now sit at 63-45.
Phil Heisey had a big 3-run home run for the Destroyers in the bottom of the third inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher John Liberty and swatted a home run to center. It was his 25th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Destroyers ahead, 4-0.
"Young guys to old guys," said Flint, "we're all going out there and doing what it takes to win."
