Gaedels Topple Titans, 6-5, as Brocklebank Shines
|
The St. Louis Gaedels beat the New York Titans, 6-5, at Veeck Park. Lloyd Brocklebank, who is rated as the 62nd best prospect by BNN, starred for St. Louis. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. David Coupel earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Tso-i Mak finished the game for St. Louis and earned his 1st save.
Had Brocklebank not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Brocklebank hit a grand slam home run. The Gaedels took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Brocklebank said after the game.
St. Louis sits at 6-5 in the early going.
