Yaciel Cusido, who finished 3rd in the EC in innings pitched with 224.0 in 2072, was locked in. The left-hander led the Tucson Toros to a 3-2 win against the Portland Dragons at Aetna Stadium. Cusido, now 6-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Toros now own a record of 47-58.
Clemenz Winkler had a big solo home run for the Toros in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tucson leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Ryan Mena, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2078 draft, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Toros on top, 3-0.
Winkler told reporters after the game: "Runs were scarce, so we had to work hard to get the W."
