Spectres Down Wolves, 9-6
|
At Fox-Chong Park, the Vancouver Wolves and Philadelphia Spectres were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Philadelphia Spectres topped the Vancouver Wolves, 9-6, with left fielder Ron Gideon playing a big role. Gideon was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Spectres in the win. Uno Urquidez, the winner, goes to 6-12. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts over 5 innings.
Philadelphia used a clutch at-bat from Earl Carpenter to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spectres ahead, 7-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Philadelphia skipper Ryan Huff.
Philadelphia is now 48-58.
