The Tucson Toros withstood a fine game by San Francisco right fielder Leonilde Tigre at Staples Field, to upend the Friars, 6-5. Tigre went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Don Young, credited with the save, is now 10 for 16 in save opportunities. Tucson occupies 4th place in the Western Conference Manny Muro Division at 39-67.
Tony Tinoco delivered a big hit for Tucson. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Toros ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
Tinoco told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
