Los Angeles Stars starter Juzo Matsumoto turned in a sterling performance against the Portland Dragons, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The winner was Billy Paul in relief. His record improves to 7-1. Melvin Luna took the loss. Los Angeles's winning streak has reached 5 games.
Had it not been for Manny Sagastisado, the results might have been different. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Stars were trailing 2-1, Sagastisado hit a 2-run single for Los Angeles, giving his team the lead.
