Greens Suffer 7-2 Loss to Gaedels
|
Erleisi Valido helped his team muscle past the Boston Greens, 7-2. In the game, the St. Louis first baseman went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Andres Anguiano, the winning pitcher, improved to 8-6. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Brian Evanko picked up his 7th save of the season.
St. Louis took a 6-2 lead on Valido's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Diego Buentello in the bottom of the seventh, propelled St. Louis to the win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Valido told the St. Louis Observer.
The Gaedels saw their record improve to 51-53.
