Browns Win, Buezo has 3 hits
|
In a close game at Cincinnati Grounds, the Brooklyn Browns edged the Cincinnati Twins, 5-4. Brooklyn first baseman Jose Buezo stood apart with his performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Abdi Bitok, the winning pitcher, is now 2-3. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 0. Wade Belk earned the save for Brooklyn, his 5th of the year.
Buezo contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Brooklyn in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Buezo took a fastball from Juan Quesada and stroked the home run to right-center. His 19th home run of the season allowed the Browns to leap in front, 4-2.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops.
The second-place Browns have a record of 54-50.
