Stars Capture Close Win
The Los Angeles Stars had to overcome a fine effort from Denver pitcher Su-shun Nie to win, 4-3, at Stars Ballpark. Nie went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Los Angeles pitcher Mike Brambila earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Jeremy Lanham suffered the loss. With the win, the Stars improved to 59-45.

The decisive blow was delivered by Melvin Gutierrez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jeremy Lanham to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.

"Enough drama for you?" winked Stars manager Pat Kaers after the game.
