3-1 Thunderbirds Win over Destroyers Evens Season Record
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the San Diego Destroyers, Bobby Sanchez was the difference-maker. The Phoenix left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Sanchez went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 9-6. Zach Baiza recorded the save for Phoenix, his 29th of the season.
The Thunderbirds got a big at-bat from center fielder Jose Lima, who in the bottom of the third hit a 2-run double. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Thunderbirds on top, 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
Phoenix's record now stands at 51-51, placing them second in the Western Conference Eobanus Burger Division.
