Cyclones Come Up Short at New York, 4-3
|
The New York Titans picked up a win at Polo Grounds II, knocking off the Miami Cyclones, 4-3. Starting pitcher Tadeu Carneira was a big reason why. The winner was Carneira. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Dryden Ice. Ray Menk, who finished 4th in the EC in saves with 24 in 2078, earned the save for New York.
New York took a 4-3 lead on Alex Zazueta's 12th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Zazueta hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Miami pitcher Dryden Ice visibly frustrated.
"I was a little disappointed," said Miami manager Chris Stephan. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The second-place Titans are 51-51.
