Buffalo Collects 4-3 Win
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Buffalo Rangers and San Francisco Friars.
The Buffalo Rangers had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Kelvin Vaquera to win, 4-3, at Staples Field. Vaquera went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Buffalo reliever Mike Brack was the winner. His record is now 5-1. Kelvin Vaquera took the loss. Hector Venni was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 5 save opportunities.
Buffalo relied on the hitting of Willy Amavizca to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 4-0. For the game, Amavizca had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
In comments to the Buffalo News, Amavizca admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
At 54-48, the Rangers find themselves in first place in the Eastern Conference Solano Antas Division.
