Win Makes New York 7-4
|
The New York Titans besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Cincinnati designated hitter Bryan Ferris by beating the Twins, 6-4, at Polo Grounds II. Ferris went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. New York pitcher Pavel Orta earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Craig Kruppenbacher suffered the loss. Ray Menk earned the save for New York, his 3rd.
The Titans got a big at-bat from third baseman David Jiron. For the game, Jiron was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Jiron said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
The triumph makes New York 7-4, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2078.
