Athletics Suffer 5-1 Loss to Glaciers
|
Denver got a strong outing from Tetsukazu Kaneda as the Glaciers defeated the Kansas City Athletics, 5-1, at Mountain Dew Park. Kaneda got the win, improving to 10-3. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Denver, now 64-37, holds down first place in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division.
Fujio Akimoto had a big 3-run home run for the Glaciers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Denver leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Hernandez and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Glaciers on top, 5-1.
"Tetsukazu went out and got the job done," said Glaciers manager Todd Bleess.
