The San Francisco Friars knocked off the Philadelphia Spectres by the score of 5-2. Jason Gonzalez provided some pop, going 2-for-4 with 2 home runs. Bill Zamora, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-2. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. With the win, San Francisco upped its record to 53-48.

With San Francisco leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Gonzalez hit a sinker from Uno Urquidez for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Friars ahead, 3-0.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said San Francisco skipper Erich Weatherholt.
