Destroyers Handed 3-0 Loss by Juggernauts
|
The Toronto Juggernauts went home winners at Molson Park, thanks in large part to starter Ferrie Franssen. Franssen stifled the San Diego Destroyers, enabling Toronto to grab the 3-0 win. In 7.1 innings, Franssen surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Morgan California earned the save for Toronto, his 19th of the year.
The Juggernauts got a big at-bat from first baseman Victor Chaviano. For the game, Chaviano went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Toronto a 1-0 lead.
"Makes our job easier," said Chaviano, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
Toronto is third in the Eastern Conference Bill Oates Division with a record of 47-52.
