Minneapolis Tops Portland (E), 5-1

Minneapolis pitcher Alexei Urrutia did his part in helping his team beat the Portland (E) Lobster, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Urrutia, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Minneapolis is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Lobster had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Vikings going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old second baseman Midori Morikawa came to the plate. Morikawa hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Portland (E) hurler John Liberty. It was Morikawa's 2nd home run of the year.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Morikawa told the Minneapolis Herald.
