Los Angeles Defeated By Kodiaks, 5-2
|
Alaska and Los Angeles duked it out and the Kodiaks came out victorious.
The Alaska Kodiaks got a strong performance from pitcher Will Spangenberg, who stymied the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Tundradome. Alaska bumps their record to 47-52 with the win.
Shigenobu Shimamoto had a big 3-run home run for the Kodiaks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Alaska leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from two-time All-Star Mike Merdinger and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Kodiaks on top, 4-0.
After the game, Alaska manager Alex King applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
