The Minneapolis Vikings earned a close win over the Denver Glaciers, thanks in part to Andy Doncaster. The Minneapolis right-hander, who finished 5th in the WC in ERA with 2.84 in 2073, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Doncaster, now 3-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The Vikings now have a mark of 35-62.
Minneapolis used a timely hit from Tony Pineda to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vikings ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Afterward, Vikings manager Ace Cooan was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
